Rose Fisher
Senior CDF Coordinator
Nineteen years ago, Rose Fisher and her husband came to Renfrew on a tour as their young son, who has Autism, was about to start in a preschool classroom. Almost immediately, Rose started as a part-time lunchroom supervisor, and within two weeks, she was working in a classroom. At the time, she just wanted to learn as much as she could about Autism, how best to work with her son, and what resources were available for him in the community – and she wanted to have a job.
"It is not easy work but it is
rewarding in so many ways.”
Throughout her years at Renfrew, Rose has found the learning opportunities to be great. She has been able to attend workshops, and conferences throughout North America, and to keep up to date with technology and other advances in the field. She is now able to share the knowledge she has gained with others. At Renfrew she helps new child development facilitators as a senior CDF coordinator, and in the community she helps other organizations to support children and families coping with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She talks about how that volunteer work allows her to take what she has learned about how Renfrew creates success for children and families and share it with other professionals.
Rose says that Renfrew is a great place to work and to connect with others who share your interests. “Renfrew has a very supportive environment but, to be successful at Renfrew, you have to want to learn and grow and you have to have a passion for working with children. It is not easy work but it is rewarding in so many ways.”
