Mike Waisman
Manager
Mike Waisman knew from an early age that he wanted to work with individuals with special needs. He feels that he was born to help people. Many family members were in helping professions and volunteered extensively in their community, instilling in him a belief that, “People need people”.
“The culture we create in this organization
is supportive. We have surrounded
ourselves with all kinds of people who make
this a comfortable and safe community.”
Mike, who is now manager of a Renfrew preschool program and in his 14th year with the agency, began working at Renfrew when he was attending Mount Royal College in Community Rehabilitation and had come to Renfrew to do a practicum. He knew right away that he wanted to have a career in the organization. He is passionate now about making a long term impact for families. ”I love the leadership here. Janice McTighe has built this organization over 37 years and I value that she is still involved. I hope I can be as humble but make that much of a contribution to kids and families over my lifetime.”Mike is positive about the leadership and support he has found and he feels a drive to give that positivity to others who work with him. “The culture we create in this organization is supportive. We have surrounded ourselves with all kinds of people who make this a comfortable and safe community. Spend a day here and you’ll see what this place is all about.”
