Mariann Sasvari
Rehabilitation Specialist
Mariann Sasvari left behind her family and friends when she moved to Calgary from Hungary 13 years ago, and was welcomed into a new community at Renfrew Educational Services – one that she has always found to be open and accepting. “When you have uprooted your whole life, you have to build new connections and it is not always easy,” she says.
“Working at Renfrew has been a tremendous
experience. If I had not worked here, I would not
be so rounded in experience and knowledge.”
Mariann came to Calgary to work with a new program for children with Cerebral Palsy. When the program found a home at Renfrew, Mariann talked to people who were working with the organization at the time and, encouraged by their positive experiences, she decided to continue her work in the program at RES. Mariann needs to feel connected to her workplace and very much enjoys the team collaboration and openness to new ideas and innovation that exists at Renfrew.
Mariann also looks for opportunities to grow and to learn more about what can be done to help children and families. “Working at Renfrew has been a tremendous experience. If I had not worked here, I would not be so rounded in experience and knowledge.“ She cites the many workshops, conferences, courses, and even her current graduate studies as opportunities that Renfrew has helped make accessible to her. Mariann also talks about teaching workshops for other staff, for parents and for colleagues in the community. In this way she can give back to the organization that has given her so much.
