Child Development Facilitators
We are recruiting Child Development Facilitators (CDFs) for the preschool (Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten) programs at our Bowness and Sundance Centres, and the Child Development Centre commencing August 25, 2011.
Position Details:
The CDF implements and facilitates daily classroom plans under the direction of the teacher. And under the guidance of the teacher and the therapy team, the CDF evaluates and implements Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals to meet the individual needs of children.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- develop and implement activities, strategies and schedules to address IPP goals;
- organize and prepare daily plans for individual children utilizing visual schedules, special seating, accessing and modifying learning materials, classroom equipment and activities to meet the needs of the child;
- assist children in play activities to address their goals;
- document goals, strategies, and child’s progress weekly;
- consult with the teacher and therapy team to review, brainstorm and implement strategies;
- assist with classroom maintenance including daily classroom and gym set up and clean up throughout and at the end of the day; preparation of and clean up after snack;
- assist at bus arrival and departure times
- some administrative duties (photocopying and laminating materials)
- toilet/diaper children
Qualifications:
- diploma/degree in a related field would be a definite asset;
- some experience working with children with special needs is preferred;
- ability to follow directions and work independently, as well as be a team player.
- organized with good planning and problem solving skills, and the ability to multi-task.

- good attention to detail.
- good communication skills.
- basic computer skills.
