Board of Directors

A voluntary Board of Directors governs Renfrew Educational Services. The Board members are nominated prior to the Annual General Meeting and are formally elected at this time. Board members represent the interests of all people served by this organization. Their primary function is to fashion the policies, which ensure that our organization is run effectively, legally, and ethically. They are trustees for the organization's 'money' enabling us to deliver exemplary programs and services.

The Board is responsible for long range plans and vision, and setting school fees. All parents are welcome to attend our Annual General Meeting. Notices are sent out in our newsletter regarding the date, time and location of the AGM.

 

Tom Buchanan

Chairperson

Tom has 20 years of senior financial and management experience, primarily in the oil and gas industry and is presently chief executive officer of Provident Energy Trust. Tom is married with three children.

 

Forry Angus

Treasurer

Forry is president of Lyfor Insurance Services Ltd. and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Calgary since 1989.  Forry is married and has four grown children and two grandchildren.

 

Dave Allan

Director

Dave is Manager, Western Canada Gas Finance with ConocoPhillips and has been in the oil and gas business since starting his career with Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd.  Dave is married with six children.

 

Vince Davoli

Director

Vince is Vice President, Western Canada, at EllisDon and has been in the construction industry for over 20 years.  He is married and the father of three children.

 

Shon Carey

Director

Shon is currently President of J&L Supply Co. and has been in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years. He is married and the father of one child.

Janice McTighe

Executive Director

Renfrew Educational Services exists today because of the vision of a very special person – Janice McTighe.  This extraordinary woman wanted to create a place where ALL children could learn and grow in a safe and happy environment, allowing them to become the best they could be, with no barriers placed in their paths.

For over thirty years, Janice has been the guide, leader and inspiration for the children, families and staff who have been privileged to be associated with Renfrew.  From her start in 1972 as the part-time coordinator of the Renfrew District Kindergarten through her appointment as executive director of Renfrew Early Childhood Services in 1990 to her position today at the helm of this thriving organization, she has nurtured the growth of the innovative programs and services that define Renfrew.

Janice’s dedication was recognized in 1994 when she received the Premier’s award for Outstanding Service to Alberta Families and again in 2001 with the Woman of Distinction award.

Janice’s forward thinking and personal example of caring and commitment continue to ensure that Renfrew will help another generation of kids to soar as we move into our next 30 years with pride in our past and a vision for our future.
