Community Services
Renfrew’s Community Services department is a leader in community-based intervention services for children. Programs include professional development workshops, specialized programs for children in one-to-one or group settings.
A wide range of therapy programs are also available, including:
- Speech-Language Therapy
Assessment, treatment and consultation for children with language delays, phonological disorders, developmental dyspraxia, articulation difficulties and social communication difficulties. Special treatment plans are developed for children with Autism, syndromes, Apraxia, Cerebral Palsy and other neurogenic disorders and Developmental Delays. - Occupational Therapy
Training for fine motor skills, printing, handwriting and keyboarding; strategies for organization and attention; functional play and social skill development, and help with adaptive environment. A sensory integrative approach is provided when appropriate. - Physical Therapy
Assessment, individual exercise programs and gross motor group activities for physically challenged children. Alberta Aids to Daily Living equipment authorization is also available.
Renfrew and Student Health Partnership
Renfrew Community Services works with Student Health Partnership to provide contracted services to schools in Calgary and the surrounding region.
Professional Development Workshops
A comprehensive range of professional development workshops, designed to meet the challenges of today’s classrooms and the needs of today’s students are available for educators, clinicians, classroom aides and parents.
Renfrew presenters share their professional knowledge and extensive experience in working with all kinds of learning differences. Participants will take away from each workshop a deeper understanding of the topic and many practical ideas that can be immediately implemented.
