Summer Programs

Renfrew will offer a variety of summer programs for children with special needs and typically developing children. 

  • Programs run at various times in July and August, 2012.
  • Times and program fees, to be announced.
  • Program registration will begin March 15, 2012.

All programs are run by Renfrew therapists.

 

Speech & Language Development

Chatterbugs

Ages 4-7 years

Does your child love to talk, but has difficulty producing certain speech sounds? In the Chatterbugs program, speech-language pathologists look at each child’s individual needs and then focus on helping them learn to produce clear speech sounds through games, crafts and physical activities - and lots of fun! An after-camp learning session will be offered to parents.

 

Language Explosion

Ages 3-6 years

The Language Explosion program is designed to increase your child’s vocabulary and broaden their use of language to increase communication. Speech-Language Pathologists will facilitate early language development in a natural environment through fun games, music, movement, visual aids, stories, crafts and play.

 

Movers & Shakers

Ages 3-6 years

Speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists will use music, movement and a variety of sensory techniques and environments to encourage social participation and communication. This fun program is suitable for non-verbal and minimally-verbal children. Daily routines will include group activities in a classroom setting. 

 

Social Skills

Buddybears Friends Club

Ages 4-7 years

Speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists will help children, who communicate well but need support with social skills, make friends in a fun environment. Children will practice social interactions, listening, sharing, and turn-taking. Activities include group games, fitness, art projects and music.

 

Living it Up

Ages 8-15 years

This life-skills program will focus on personal growth, friendship and fun. Dynamic speech-language pathologists and Occupational Therapists will guide the children through fitness, cooking activities and games. Children will learn problem-solving, social communication and reasoning skills which can be applied in the community.

 

School Readiness

Letters to Life

Ages 5-10 years

Letters to Life provides practical ideas to help children become more legible printers while increasing their sound- letter association. The occupational therapist and speech-language pathologist will provide innovative strategies which are fun and engaging for everyone.  

 

Fun With Reading & Writing

Ages 5-10 years

This program is designed to develop reading and writing skills through exciting and creative literacy activities. Children have opportunities to learn in a supportive and interactive environment that is personalized to their individual needs. 

 

Respite

Imagination Station

Ages 4-7 years

This program offers children a fun-filled half-day camp that provides families and caregivers with a much-needed break. Your child will make new friends, try new things and learn problem-solving through play, music, art and physical activities. Therapists and support staff provide an environment that is both fun and safe.
