Curriculum-Focused for Student Success

Renfrew’s Community Services are available on a contract basis to independent schools, private ECS operators and school districts throughout southern Alberta.

While hundreds of children attend our own schools, we serve many more children in other Calgary and area schools. Each year, Renfrew’s Community Services department provide therapy services to thousands of students through the Student Health Partnership, plus we provide kindergarten screening services for the Calgary Catholic School District through our innovative Kindergarten Screening program that is unique in North America. Renfrew’s therapy teams of, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and therapy assistants work together with school staff to support the individualized educational needs of students. All therapists target teacher concerns regarding issues impacting a student’s ability to access and participate fully in their educational program. They work together with school staff to facilitate teacher comfort with strategies and long-term carryover. Therapy may be provided in different ways: through one-on-one sessions, in small groups, through consultation to the classroom team, or through facilitation of in-class participation.

Renfrew Educational Services has a strong commitment to continuing professional development for all staff. There is a focus on linking education to practise and to the goal areas and needs we are seeing in classrooms.
