A child’s successful experience in elementary school creates a strong foundation for learning and interaction.
Renfrew’s Elementary Education program offers children with mild, moderate or severe needs a safe environment in which to grow and to continue to develop their excitement for learning. We follow the Alberta Education Program of Studies. Our teachers modify the curriculum to meet the individual needs of the students.
Renfrew is an acknowledged leader in North America for its programs. Certified teachers work in collaboration with child development facilitators, on-site therapists, resource team and parents to develop individual programs for each student.
Renfrew’s Elementary Education program is committed to small class sizes.
Students learn to problem solve, to persevere, and to access, acquire and process information in ways that promote resourcefulness and self-confidence. Students also learn to listen and relate to others with respect, cooperation and compassion.
We have two specialized Elementary Plus classrooms that are designed to meet the needs of children with significant challenges. These classrooms provide a lower child to staff ratio. The classroom environment is sensory based, providing hands-on learning opportunities.
